Whinless Down Summer Event

Sunday 5th September

Summer event at Whinless Down. Open area on the top of the downs at Dover with great views out over the Channel.
Please park along Noahs Ark Road or on the gravel track beyond the Dover Grammar School for boys. Assembly is opposite the entrance to school at the end of Noahs Ark Road, Dover CT17 0DQ (w3w: sticks.wasp.beams).

SIAC will be enabled for the event. Punching Start & Finish.
The start and finish are on the top of the downs, and many of the controls can be visited without descending the slopes, however those intending to clear the course will find that there is plenty of climb. The area is divided by fences into a number of compartments for grazing animals.
The map will be double sided at scale 1:4,000. A composite map showing how the two sides relate will be displayed before the start.

20 controls worth 10 points each - there will be two number series-40s & 50s with an compulsory non scoring changeover control (number 60). Visit as many controls as you want in one series then punch the changeover control before moving to the other series. 60 minute time limit. 10 point penalty per minute late back.

21 controls worth 10 points each. Find as many controls in any order within 60 minutes. 5 point penalty per minute late back.

You must not attend if you or a member of your household has COVID-19 symptoms, if you have been asked to isolate by NHS Test and Trace, or if you are required to quarantine having been on holiday.

Timing
The start is a proximate to the parking area. You should make every reasonable effort to arrive at the event in time for your allocated start time or start window, including allowing extra time to travel to the venue where necessary.

Conduct
You must adhere to the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.

Please arrive at the event in your orienteering kit, and where possible travel home to change. Please apply appropriate social distancing at all times. Do not approach the enquiries/download/organiser unless absolutely necessary.

During your run
At the start and during your run please remember to social distance. Please move away from the map box after collecting your map. At control sites do not touch the control, and move through quickly. Do not congregate at the Finish. At Download ensure you are drip and spittle free before downloading.

Medical conditions
Competitors take part at their own risk. If you have an existing Medical Condition of which the Organisers should be aware, please complete a Medical Form which can be downloaded from the Event Details on the Saxons website and hand to the Organiser in a sealed envelope. This can be collected once you have downloaded, or will be destroyed at the end of the event.

Results
Results will not be on display at the event. Split prints may be available. Final results can be accessed on Saxons website after the event.
