Event Information
BOF insurance changes
We welcome anyone to our orienteering events members or non-members of AIRE but we need to point out that from 1st January 2026, participants who are not members of British Orienteering will no longer be covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering this event, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered.
Location & Parkng
On Villa Road, Bingley which is best approached from Park Road in Bingley. Going uphill it is on the right just as Park Road bends gently to the right. Coming downhill from Eldwick, it is 40m after the bottom entrance to Prince of Wales Park.. Its a short walk from Bingley station to the start/assembly and happy to store warm clothes in the registration van which will be the red camper van on Villa Road.
Clothing and equipment
Bring a torch and a pen - dibber not required
Juniors (-16) must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Hi Viz clothing and whistle recommended.
Travel
Please car share wherever possible. You can sign up to the Car Sharing scheme - login to the event on Racesignup to join.
Timings
Registration 6.30 - 6.55
Mass start - 7.00
Please be back to registration by 8:15pm at the latest.
1 minute penalty for each minute or part minute late.
Safety
Bring a headtorch and a pen if you wish to record controls visited.
Whistles are compulsory. There will be a few spare to borrow if required.
Full leg cover is advised if you plan to visit the furthest controls.
Cagoules will be compulsory in the event of poor weather.
Juniors (under 16) to be accompanied by an adult because there are road crossings on the course.
First Aid and A&E
First Aid is available at the Finish.
Terrain
Open moorland with extensive path network and many large pits and depressions. Generally very runnable. Some dead bracken and some patches of brambles on the lower slopes. Part of the area is a golf course. Please don't run over the greens (olive on the map)
Terrain
Mix of heathery moorland on Gilstead edge, park land with historical features in Prince of Wales Park and roads, streets and allyways/steps of Bingley.
Conduct
Please make yourself aware of and abide by the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct (revised August 2021).
