Event Information
Welcome to our second summer event. Two courses a long and a short. The long course will have three random controls which you have to look out for and dib.
Location/Parking
The start is located near the tennis and basketball courts (SW side), close to the park entrance on North Park Road. By 6pm it is likely that the park gates will be closed to incoming traffic, in which case we suggest you park on North Park Road. Beware of the directional flaps at the park entrance.
Timings
EOD Registration: From 18.20 to 19:05
Starts from 18:30 to 19:15
Courses close: 20:15 at which point controls will be collected in and all should have reported back to registration.
Courses and map availability
There will be 2 sprint courses:
Long: 35 maps
Short: 15 maps
These are "straight-line" distances - you will need to run further.
A dibber is required for the start and finish on both courses. On the long course there will be three randomly placed controls for you to punch.
Terrain
Lister Park is a fast urban parkland packed with exciting features like a scenic boating lake, botanical gardens, and the striking Cartwright Hall. You'll weave through open grass and dash along winding paths, navigating steps, walls, and fountains. It's the perfect playground for a thrilling sprint, whether you are dodging statues or racing to the finish!
Safety
The courses are located entirely within Lister Park, so U16s can run unaccompanied, but be aware that there could be slow moving vehicles on the internal perimeter road and in car parks. Young or inexperienced juniors should be shadowed.
Clothing and equipment
The long course will have three random controls on which you have to look out for so you will need to bring or hire a dibber.
Shorts may be worn at your discretion. Whistles should be carried. In adverse weather we may ask you to wear a cagoule or similar waterproof top.
Non-BOF levy
British orienteering have increased their levy for Non-BOF members to £2.50 per event. We are now putting a supplement of £1 to go towards that levy.
Dogs
On leads please or under control
First Aid and A&E
First Aid is available at the Finish.

By entering this event, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered.
