Dartford Orienteers invite you to the final event in Greater London Orienteering Summer Series 2026

The Greater London Orienteering Summer Series (GLOSS) 2026 comes to a dramatic conclusion at the final event at Beckenham Place Park. Courses will include the GLOSS course, which counts towards your Club’s score in the series, plus an extension course for those looking for a greater challenge. In addition there will be a shorter Yellow course suitable for all comers.
Whether you’ve entered all the events in the series, or whether you’re new to orienteering, all are welcome to take part.
We anticipate being able to award the prestigious London Bus trophy to the winning team at the end of the event

Registration online only in advance. Start Times: 11:00 to 12:30.

Courses

Yellow 1.8km
Entered: 0
Controls (checkpoints) are very easy to find, mostly on paths, ideal for younger children and complete beginners.

GLOSS or GLOSS + extension 3.5km
Entered: 0
Controls are on or near paths with some route choice. Good for progressing juniors and adults who are reasonably confident reading a map. The optional Extension is an additional 2km with controls that are a little trickier

The lower entry fee is for members of British Orienteering

Juniors are under 21 on 31st December 2026.

Newcomers are most welcome. If you are a newcomer to orienteering and have not participated in one of our events before, guidance will be provided both in advance and at the event.


Electronic punching chip hire: standard £1 and enhanced version for contactless punching £2.

For a group participating on the Yellow course £10 at all entry dates. Only one person needs to enter but after the surname please type "+2", say, to indicate that this is a group of three people participating together. One map and one dibber (no extra charge) will be issued to the group .
Event Information
Safety
You must not attend if you or a member of your household has COVID-19 symptoms.
Event centre
See the DFOK website for public transport and parking information to get to the Event Centre, a dark blue DFOK sail banner and our tent.

There will be a first aid kit at the event for largely self-use and a first aid trained club member in attendance.
Map
Maps will be at 1:5.000 for all courses. All maps will be printed on waterproof paper.
Videos
These two short videos will hopefully give you a good idea of what you will be doing Videos.
Start
The start will be about 100m walk from the Event Centre. Follow the red and white tapes. It is a punching start for everyone.
Control descriptions
Control descriptions are printed on the map. Loose control descriptions will be available in the start lanes at the event. These are helpful if you want to avoid keep unfolding your map to check the control code is correct at each control visited.
Finish and Download
It is a Punching Finish for everyone. After finishing, please proceed directly to Download which is close to the Event Centre. Download will be by the competitor. Your splits print out will be handed to you. Hired SI dibbers should then be deposited in a pink container nearby.
Results
Results will not be on display at the event but you can access them on the DFOK website after the event www.dfok.co.uk. We hope to be able to show live results using a QR code on your map which can be accessed using your mobile phone.
