Berkshire Orienteers (BKO) invites you to a regional orienteering event at Bloom Wood on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May 2025.
This is the last SCOA League Event (SCOL) of the season and so last opportunity to gain points.

Bloom Wood is dominated by mature deciduous forest with some steep slopes. The area should be mainly runnable in early May before the ground cover has grown too high. The Bluebells are in full flower and give a magnificent blue spectacle. These areas, including paths and rides, are strictly out of bounds and marked on the map. Courses have been planned to avoid these areas and any diversion marked on the map must be followed! You may encounter isolated pockets of Bluebells not marked on the map that you should please run around and avoid trampling.

Featuring a junior tent in assembly - meet up for a chat and some snacks - everyone welcome

Event Information

Mainly runnable, mature deciduous forest with several valleys. Expect some contouring between controls. Take care on the steep slopes on the east side of the lane through the area - the chalk can be slippery if wet. There will be a timed road crossing across the lane on the longer courses.

Parking will be tight and there is a limit of 100 cars on the tracks and in the field next to assembly. So we encourage you to share lifts to the event, or sign up for the Car Share scheme when you enter via Racesignup.
