2026 Summer Series Event 1 at Clare Country Park

The first of our Summer Series events will be in Clare Castle Country Park.

Clare Country Park is popular visitor attraction with Victorian Railway buildings, a 60ft high motte as well as numerous paths and patches of woodland.

All the courses will use the Country Park and Priory ground, with the longer courses taking you into the charming old market town of Clare and the delights of Clare Common where cows usually graze.

There will be a selection of courses suitable for both beginners and experienced orienteers.

Courses

Short 1.8km
Entered: 0
Within the Country Park and Priory grounds.
Suitable for all ages.

Medium 4.5km
Entered: 0
Starting and finishing in the Country Park but will also have some urban sections, and onto Clare Common where there may be cows grazing.
Over 16s only.

Long 5.7km
Entered: 0
Starting and finishing in the Country Park, but will also have some urban sections and onto Clare Common where there may be cows grazing.
Over 16s only.

Juniors are under 21 on 31st December.

If you are entering as a group please enter with the name of one adult and add the names of the other group members in the space provided and you will be charged the senior entry fee.
You can opt to purchase an extra map for the course you have entered for £1.00.

The controls will be set up for contactless punching.

Clare Country Park is situated at Malting Lane, Clare, CO10 8NW..
Car parking is charged via pay stations in the car park.

Clare country park is a hidden treasure with Victorian railway buildings, the remains of a castle keep on a 60ft high motte overlooking the town, children's play areas, trails, rivers and ponds.

The short course will be entirely within the country park and adjacent priory grounds.
The medium and long courses will also have urban sections in the town and onto Clare Common where they may be cows grazing.

Facilities
Registration, dibber hire and download will be close to the entrance to the park.

Start times from 10:15 - 11:15.
Start times will not be allocated, but there may be queues at busy times.
Courses close 12:30

Guidance for beginners will be available at Registration open from 10:00.

There are toilets and a cafe in the country park.
