Event Information
Introduction
Snooker O event in the town of Burnham-on-Crouch, approximately 15 miles south east of Chelmsford. Mostly on street running, with some route choice in local parks. Maprun based, with controls located on fire hydrant signs and other street furniture.
Event 1 of the HAVOC Twilight Series 2026. The series will consist of three events, each with a specific scoring format. Each event will have two courses - Long and Short. Points will be awarded based on the specific scoring for each individual event, and then adjusted using an age/gender handicap system. Bonus points for running on the night compared to Anytime. Full results will be emailed via RaceSignUp and published on the HAVOC website.
Participation is at your own risk. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Bring clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions. As with any street orienteering you are required to cross roads and you are asked to take due care and attention at all times. High visibility clothing is strongly recommended. There may be dog walkers, cyclists or residents on pavements and footpaths – be aware and give them priority. Some roads do not have pavements so take extra care. As this event will take place in the twilight, a head torch or similar may be required if you are starting later in the start window.

Controls are categorised as Reds (1 point) or Colours (2 to 7 points). Scoring as per snooker, so Red, Colour, Red, Colour... then Yellow, Green, Brown, Blue, Pink, Black. For the short course three reds (and a colour following) are required before moving onto the colour sequence. For the long course five reds (and a colour following) are required. A red can only be used once in the course, the colours can be used multiple times. You do not have to finish the full sequence of red, colour, red colour..., colours, but can return to the finish at any time to get back within the time limit. Your score will be taken at the point you took your last control (subject to any time penalties). Controls taken out of sequence will not count. You can only move on to the colour sequence once the required number of reds (and a colour following) have been visited.
Penalty of 4 points for every minute or part minute over the time limit if you are late back.

If the MapRun app does not correctly record your visit to a control, but you are sure you are in the right place, continue on to your next control, and GPS tracks will be used folliwing the event to ascertain that you were in the correct location.
