Road crossings have been kept to a minimum on Yellow and Orange Courses and are recommended for Juniors.

On the longer courses major routes must be crossed using crossing points. There are 2 mandatory timed out road crossings on the Blue course

Juniors are under 21 on 31st December.

Students are competitors over the age of 20 still in full-time education. Please check STUDENT on the Entry Form if this applies.

Helpers are entitled to 50% discount on entry fee (please contact Organiser for discount code)

Novice Courses for Seniors are Orange & Yellow.

The GROUP category is to encourage competitors who want to run or walk with friends or family on one of the Novice Courses (Yellow or Orange).
You will be charged a single fee no matter how large your group is and will receive 2 maps. Don't forget to hire a dibber if you do not own one. For insurance purposes please could you provide the names of the people in your group on the entry form.

GROUP entries are not available on Green or Blue Courses. If you want to run with someone else on one of the more technical courses, you must enter as an INDIVIDUAL and would be deemed non-competitive.

Discounts do not apply to SI hire (lost card charges £40)

SI hire cards will be non-SIAC

Non members of the British Orienteering Federation (BOF) will incur an additional £1 fee in all categories to compensate for the increased levies paid by NWO to BOF for unaffiliated competitors.
Make sure you have renewed your BO membership to avoid this premium!

Travel Directions
Pentylands Country Park is on the outskirts of Highworth. Postcode SN6 7SR Grid Reference SU198936. (What3Words link: swims.droplet.sharpen).
There will be orienteering signs at the Blackworth roundabout A361 Lechlade Road/Blackworth/Roundhills Mead. Drive along Blackworth towards Pentylands Country Park and park as directed by marshals.
Information and hired dibber collection will be in a tent in Pentylands Country Park near Start and Finish. It will be approx 150m from the entrance to the park at the junction of Blackworth and Pentylands Lane, from where it will be signed.
Car Share

Parking
Parking will be limited along Blackworth, so marshals will facilitate this.
Please park sensibly and do not obstruct other users of Pentylands Country Park.
Public Transport
The venue is accessible by the 7 bus from Swindon to Highworth. A journey planner is available on Traveline South West

THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY ON DAY
  • You can amend your entry to change course until 23:59 on 09-04-2025 (if maps are still available.)
  • If you have entered as a Senior Novice (O/Y) please do not change to one of the more difficult courses as the fees are higher.
  • Non-BOF members will incur an additional £1 fee in all categories.
  • Refund Policy
    You may withdraw from the event up until 23:59 on 05-04-2025. Your entry fee will be held as a credit to be redeemed when you next enter an NWO event.
    Timing System
    SI Dibber
  • Controls will be SIAC enabled for those with compatible dibbers (unless otherwise notified on the day of the event).
  • Hire dibbers will be SI-Card 8 (non-SIAC).
  • Competitors with their own SI Dibbers can proceed directly to the start.
  • Hire dibbers can be picked up from the table at the assembly point.
  • Map
    A3+ Landscape Blue and Green courses, A4 Portrait Orange and Yellow courses.
    1:4000 scale. Contours at 2.5m intervals.
    Overprinted with course on waterproof paper with control descriptions on the front. Yellow and Orange courses will have written descriptions; Blue and Green have pictorial descriptions. Loose control descriptions for all courses will be available at the start.
    Terrain
    Pentylands Country Park is mainly open with hedges and patches of woodland. The urban area is a mixture of residential and commercial developments with some small open areas.
    All courses start and finish in Pentylands Country Park but the majority of all courses will be in residential areas.
    Results
    Results, Splits and Routegadget will be available on the North Wiltshire Orienteers website as soon as practicable after the event
    Conduct
    Please make yourself aware of and abide by the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.
    Clothing and equipment
  • Whistles MUST be carried and will be checked at the start. (Available for £1 from Information/Download)
  • In adverse weather we may ask you to wear a cagoule or similar waterproof top
  • Bio-security
    Please come to the event with clean and dry shoes and clothing. Before leaving the event check your clothing and equipment and remove any mud, soil or leaf litter. Once home thoroughly clean your footwear and clothing and leave it to dry for as long as possible. Please take any litter home with you.
    Dogs
    Dogs permitted under control in the parking area. Guide and assistance dogs only are permitted on the courses.
    Hazards
  • Road traffic may be present at all times.
  • There will be other park, path and pavement users.
  • Some areas of Pentylands can be wet, muddy and slippery so appropriate footwear should be worn.
  • Safety
  • Take care on all road crossings and observe any mandatory crossing on your course
  • Be aware of other users and treat them with consideration in order to avoid collision or inconvenience
  • All competitors MUST report to Download even if retiring from the event.
  • Lone competitors are recommended to leave car keys at Information/Download.
  • Participants to bring their own water and ensure adequate hydration pre and post event.
  • Orienteering is a physically challenging sport, and competitors take part at their own risk.
  • The nearest A&E Hospital is at Swindon Great Western Hospital SN3 6BB.
  • Insurance
    PLEASE NOTE: As of January 2026 participants who are not members of British Orienteering are no longer covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering this event as a non-member, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered. Please make sure that you have renewed your membership or consider joining if you are not already a member. Non-members will still be charged a supplement to cover increased levies payable by NWO.
    Medical Conditions
    If you have a high risk medical condition you want the organisers to be aware of please download and complete this form and place it in a sealed envelope with your name on it. This can be left at registration. Envelopes will only be opened if required for a medical emergency. Unopened envelopes should be collected after the event. Any unclaimed envelopes will be destroyed after the event.

    Cancellation Policy
    NWO will make every effort to ensure the event goes ahead as planned. However, should the event be cancelled, NWO reserves the right to retain part of the advance entry fees to meet costs already incurred or committed.
