Kent Orienteering League event 6 - KOL6. Ightham is a delightful ancient woodland including some complex contour details.


Online advance registration only. Start between 11-12.30pm. Courses Close at 2.00pm.

If you wish to compete as a group, you should select group entry and provide the number of other team members in the field provided, (only team leader needs to enter. Group entry fee covers all entrants).

Score
1 hour, 21 controls, visit as many as you can. 10pts per control found, 5 pts penalty per minute over the hour.

If you need to withdraw prior to the event, you will automatically receive a credit note for use against future Saxon events.

Parking/Transport/Facilities
Parking will be on both sides of the layby next to the Amherst Inn (currently closed) off the A25. Post code TN15 0HB (W3W:https://w3w.co/detail.limes.began). A small number of spaces are available close to the start on Church road next to St Lawrence's Church TN15 0LL These are for participants with children or those not able to walk as far. Please ensure you report to download after finishing.

There are no toilet facilities in the layby or at the start.

Newcomers and Beginners
If you are new to Orienteering and would like some additional help before attending an event, please check the appropriate box on the entry form and the event organiser will be in touch. There are also some helpful youtube introductory videos to watch. One by a nearby London club Newcomer Guide and another from a Manchester based club Getting Started

Timing, Start/Finish and Race Information
Contactless electronic timing enabled for the event, (SIAC), although a basic timing dibber can also be used, (basic timing devices provided free of charge if you don't have one). Punching Start & Finish.

Enquiries opens at 10.30 to collect hire dibbers. There will be experienced orienteers on hand to help newcomers.
Enquiries, loan/hire dibber collection & Download are next to the parking are in the layby. The start is a 1.3km walk from the layby. Follow red and white tapes from the western end of the layby.
The orange course has a minor road crossing which will be manned. Green and Blue have unmanned minor road crossings, please take care.
There are two finishes. The yellow and orange courses finish near the start with a 1.3km walk back to download and parking. The green and blue courses finish close to the main parking area in the layby. The score course will have the option to use either finish. Both finishes are marked on the score course map. Please remember to download before leaving.

Map scale is 1:7,500 for yellow, orange and green courses and 1:10,000 for blue and score courses with 5m contours.

Conduct
You must adhere to the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.

Medical conditions
Competitors take part at their own risk. If you have an existing Medical Condition of which the Organisers should be aware, please complete a Medical Form which can be downloaded from the Event Details on the Saxons website and hand to the Organiser in a sealed envelope. This can be collected once you have downloaded, or will be destroyed at the end of the event.

Results
Results will not be on display at the event. Split prints available. Final results will be posted to Saxons website after the event.
