Course Pre-Study
All students must undergo extensive pre-course study and complete directed practical tasks using the provided OCAD software. This can be done at times to suit each student. The practical tasks will be evaluated by the course Tutor and feedback given to each student. Depending on prior experience and ability this pre study period will require at least 30 hours. Beginners can expect to more than double this time requirement.
A variety of files will be sent out three months in advance of the course to allow students to do the pre-course study and be ready for an intensive three days.
An extensive 67-page handout will be sent along with 2 process flow charts to assist students with the course and their post course development. It is not anticipated that students will study this before the course, but a skim read would be advantageous.
Equipment Required
Each student will need a windows PC with at least an i5 processor, 8Gb of memory and a mouse. They must have Administrator access to allow software installation. A MAC book can be used if it has a windows operating system installed.
Students will be provided with the latest OCAD Orienteering product, courtesy of OCAD. This installation will cease to work one month after the course concludes.
Each student will need a smart phone or small tablet with GPS and a mobile data connection, and with the free OCAD Sketch App installed. This is an essential element of making the most of the latest OCAD version.
MLN Event
There will be an MLN event near to the course venue on Wed 10 Jun 26.
The course program for the Wed is a self study/consolidation phase so students will be able to take time out of the course to have a run if they wish.

Phoenix House is a modern teaching establishment for rehabilitating service personnel; it has excellent facilities.
Serving personnel can book a room in the centre as part of this entry process.
