Parking
There is plenty of parking on the access road to St. John's School, a short distance from the main school Reception, where SI Card collection, Download and toilets will be located. PLEASE FOLLOW THE GUIDANCE FROM THE MARSHALS. Start will be close to the access road used for parking. Start and Finish will be very close to Download.
Start Times
Facilities and SI dibber collection from 10:00
Start times for all courses: 10:30 - 12:30
Courses close: 14:30. You must report to Download by this time. Please ensure that you start early enough that you will be able to complete your course by the time courses close.
There will be no pre-allocated start times. Go to the Start when you are ready. Loose control descriptions will be in the start lanes.
Courses
All course distances and climbs are subject to final planning/controlling amendments.
There will be one mandatory timed out major road crossing on Courses 1,2,4, and 5 with a timeout limit of 2 minutes. Discretionary crossings of major roads are marked on Courses 1 – 5.
Course 1 has 30 controls. Hired SI cards are SI Series 8 and have a limit of 30 course controls. If you are on Course 1 with one of these cards, make sure you do not mis-punch controls not on your course. However, if you do mis-punch, continue your course and inform the download team. SIAC and Series 9 and above register many more than 30 controls.
Course 6 has been planned to avoid busy roads and Course 7 stays on the school campus.
Facilities
Registration, Enquiries, Bag Storage, Download, Toilets, First Aid and Indoor changing area will be within the School.
Entry
Standard entries close at 23:59 on Sunday 5th July.
Late on-line entries will be available while map stocks last up to 23:59 on 9th July.
You can only amend your entry to change Course before the 23:59 on 9th July if maps are still available.If you have entered as a Senior Novice (Courses 6 or 7) please do not change to one of the more difficult courses as the fees are higher.THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY ON DAY
Refund Policy
You may withdraw from the event up until 23:59 on 05-07-2026. Your entry fee will be held as a credit to be redeemed when you next enter an NWO event.
Timing System
SI card
Controls will be SIAC enabled for those with compatible dibbers (unless otherwise notified on the day of the event).Hire dibbers will be SI-Card 8 (non-SIAC).
Competitors with their own SI cards can proceed directly to the startHire cards can be picked up from the table next to download
Maps
Courses 1-5 Scale 1:5,000, 5m contours. A3 size.
Courses 6 and 7 Scale 1:4,000, 5m contours. A4 size.
Overprinted with course on waterproof paper with control descriptions on the front. Course 6 & 7 will have written descriptions; all other courses will have pictorial descriptions. Loose control descriptions for all courses will be available at the start.
Terrain
The area is a mixture of residential and commercial developments with some open parkland. The river Kennet runs through the south of the mapped area which has several road and pedestrian bridges over it.
Results Results, Splits and Routegadget will be available on the
North Wiltshire Orienteers website as soon as practicable after the event.
Clothing and equipment
The event is taking place on public roads.
High-viz clothing is strongly recommended.
Dogs
NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED AT THE CAMPUS, SCHOOL OR ON THE COURSES
Hazards
Road traffic may be present at all times.There will be other path and pavement users.PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY NUT CONTAINING FOODS INTO THE SCHOOL AS ST JOHN'S IS A NUT FREE ENVIRONMENT.
Safety
Take care on all road crossings and observe any mandatory crossing on your course.Be aware of other path users and treat them with consideration in order to avoid collision or inconvenience.All competitors MUST report to Download even if retiring from the event. Lone competitors are recommended to leave car keys at Information/Download.Participants to bring their own water and ensure adequate hydration pre and post event. Hand sanitisers will be available; however, we encourage participants to bring their own.Orienteering is a physically challenging sport, and competitors take part at their own risk.The nearest A&E Hospital is at Royal United Hospital, Combe Park, Bath, Avon, BA1 3NG.
Medical Conditions If you have a high risk medical condition you want the organisers to be aware of please download and complete
this form and place it in a sealed envelope with your name on it. This can be left at registration. Envelopes will only be opened if required for a medical emergency. Unopened envelopes should be collected after the event. Any unclaimed envelopes will be destroyed after the event.

Cancellation Policy
NWO will make every effort to ensure the event goes ahead as planned. However, should the event be cancelled, NWO reserves the right to retain part of the advance entry fees to meet costs already incurred or committed.
