Base Security requirements
This event is being held on an active MoD base that comes under their security requirements.
Civilians that are known to the league staff will be permitted to enter. However, if you are not known the league staff then your entry will be cancelled and your fee will be refunded less the processing cost.
To gain access to a secure site you will need to enter other MLN events to become one of the "known" civilians.
All civilian entrants will be required to provide the details of the vehicle that they will be travelling in at sign up.
Only those entered in the competition can enter the base even if in an authorised vehicle.
If commpeting as a pair BOTH runners must be entered in the event, and must both meet the security rquirements.
Every civilian entrant must have a valid photo ID.
Entry Process
To enter yourself, your soldiers or friends and family, you will need to create an account on RaceSingUp; there is a link to event just above this text.
Military Entants MUST provide their unit when entering. This is so we can ensure that you are entitled to the discount entry fee.
Entries close at Midday on the Tuesday before the event. Entries can't be withdrawn or changed after then. Late entries accepted up to 8pm for an additional £1.
Once you have an account you can enter one or multiple people up to a maximum of 20. Once someone's details have been entered they can be recalled for future events. Payment is made at the end of the process with a bank card. If you need to withdraw, the fee will be credited to your "account" and can be used at future MLN-O events
Refund Policy
You may withdraw from the event up until 12:00hrs the day before. Your entry fee will be refunded less the card processing fee.
Travel Directions
The route to parking is from the Western side of the training area and not through Richmondshire lines. Access is along the road from Brookes to the A6108, C107. The turn off onto Waithwith road is shown by the brown tourist signs for Foxglove Covert, What3Words for turn offs: ///hurtles.still.pave, ///dashes.screening.phones. Proceed along Waithwtih road to the coach park at What3Words ///earphones.atomic.envisage. The route to reception will be marked with streamers, it is at What3words ///handed.decisions.harmless
Reception is in a tent, under 100m from parking, just outside the NNW corner of the camp security fence.
Terrain The event starts outside of the Barracks and utilises the whole of shiaba. The area has a small nature reserve with large ponds, rough open grazing with many water features, an old barracks complex where only the hardstanding remains. To the north is a steep wooded valley with many ground features. There will be multiple fence crossing on all courses.
The final stages of all courses will be within the barrack complex.
Foxglove Covert is a Local Nature Reserve, created in 1992 by The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards who had just returned from the First Gulf War. The reserve contains semi-natural woodland, heathland, flower-rich grassland, streams, ponds, a lake, willow and alder carr, coniferous woodlands and wet meadows. All competitors would be welcome to visit

Punching system
EMIT Emitag Touch Free. Wrist strap chip system with LED light to indicate a successful punch. No beep. No hire charge but lost tags charged at £75.
Timing
Reception:10.30 - 13.30 hrs for Tag collection.
Starts: 11.00 - 14.00 hrs
Courses Close: 15.00 hrs. Controls will be taken in from 14.30 hrs.
Dress
Full leg and arm cover is mandatory; that means no shorts, vests or exposed ankles.
Dogs
Dogs are allowed in the parking area but are not allowed on the area.
Results
Results with splits will be emailed to competitors on the evening of the event
Facilities
There are portable toilets available in the car park and in the Foxglove Covert visitor centre.
Civilian Participation
For civilians participating in Army orienteering, Public Liability Insurance is provided by Towergate; individuals are advised to have their own private accident insurance. This event is conducted iaw British Orienteering Rules 2019 and land booked iaw the AOA DIO Licence and JSP907.
Personal Responsibility
Orienteering in the Army is classed as individual military training. Civilian competitors are responsible for their own personal safety and for assessing their own abilities to complete the course.
Use of personal data
The personal data you give at Registration will be used by the event organisers and their agents for the purpose of processing and publishing entries and results, conducting safety checks and as required by our insurers to validate our cover. Your information will be managed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
