Open mixed woodland with areas of open typical of the New Forest. There may still be areas of high bracken in places.

Both the Green and Blue courses visit an area of open 'lawn' with areas of thickets and clumps of trees. They will also have to cross an access road which has very little traffic but runners should be aware.

There are two areas of Out of Bounds (OOB) marked on the map but not on the ground. All participants should avoid these sensitive areas.

The yellow course, which is mainly on paths, has a taped route section past a fallen tree and then the course follows an earth bank.
