Summer Series - Queen Elizabeth Country Park

Join us for a local event with courses for all skills, ages and abilities.

If you are new to orienteering or new to the club or just want to talk about how to progress with your orienteering, one of our coaches will be on hand to help.

Enter by 3rd May to guarantee your choice of course. Later entries will be allowed but limited to the number of maps available.

Juniors are under 21 on 31st December.

There will be a £45 charge for lost timing cards.
Event Information
Location, travel and parking
Juniper Car Park. From the park entrance follow the road right to the top of the hill - as far as you can go. Parking charges apply - up to 1 hour £2.50, up to 2 hours £5, up to 4 hours £8, full day £9.50. Concession for helpers: pay for 2 hours irrespective of length of stay.
The event centre is a short walk north from the car park.
Timing
Registration: 10:15 - 12:00
Starts: 10:30 - 12:00
Courses close: 13:30

Start at any time. If you have your own SportIdent card, you may go straight to the start.
Map and Terrain
1:10,000 map on A4 waterproof paper, 5m contours.

Woodland country park with many paths and some steep hills.
Facilities
Toilets at Juniper Car Park. Cafe at visitor centre near the entrance.
Clothing and equipment
In adverse weather, we may ask you to wear a cagoule or similar waterproof top.
Hazards
Please be aware of the risk of ticks and Lyme disease.
Full leg cover recommended.
Sensible footware advised.
Take care crossing roads.
Some steep hills.
Dogs
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead when necessary.
Safety
Please be aware of cyclists and skateboards etc. Please respect and be courteous to other Park users.

Courses close at 13:30 hrs. All competitors must report to Download, even if they retire from the event.

Orienteering is a physically challenging sport.

A comprehensive risk assessment has been carried out by the organiser and will be available to read at the event. Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
Results
The results will be posted on the SOC website as soon as possible after the event.
Insurance
If you’re not currently a member of British Orienteering, you won’t be covered by the organisation’s public liability insurance for this event. You’re very welcome to take part, but please be aware that you do so at your own risk.
Event cancellation
If the event has to be cancelled for reasons beyond our control, SOC reserve the right to retain all or some of your entry fee to cover committed costs.
Medical
Medical information for an emergency may be left in a sealed envelope at registration. Any envelopes not collected after the event will be destroyed without opening.
