Travel/ Parking
Parking - GR ST913306; Signed from the centre of Hindon near the Lamb pub (ST911329; W3W: storyline.devoured.poetry); then over the small Bridge , south to the Fonthill Estate (ST912327; W3W: precluded.wishes.forces). Turn into the signed entrance ((ST909306; W3W: arming.fended.remotest) and follow the signs to the Parking. Please follow the instructions of the parking marshals. Parking on grass slope if dry; on surrounding rides if very wet
Map/Terrain
The map is 1:10,000 for courses: Black to Blue; 1:7500 for courses Short Blue - White
All have 5m contours; updated in Winter 2026; waterproof maps.
Fonthill is a working & shooting Forest with many rides. There has been some recent forestry work - the map has been recently updated to show these areas.. Courses have been planned to avoid the worst brashing areas. Please do not climb on any log piles or any machinery around the area.
Pheasant pens: all pheasant pens are out of bounds; BEWARE of wires around the outside of the pens - trip hazards!
Control descriptions are on the map. Loose control descriptions will be in the
start lanes. The White &Yellow courses have written descriptions.
Approx 350m to the Start.

Loose control descriptions will be in the Start lanes. White & Yellow maps can be picked up at the beginning of the Start boxes.

Assembly opens: 10.00 - Hired dibbers available next to Download.
Lost Hire dibbers charge - £55. No entry on the day.
Those with their own dibbers can go straight to the Start

Timing system
We are using the SI timing system. The Controls are SIAC enabled. Hired Dibbers are not SIAC enabled .
The Start and Finish controls must be punched by everybody
Facilities
Caterer - Warren's Food Wagon - the new Tom! ; Lizzie Balston will be selling cakes to raise money for a charity trip abroad in the Autumn - please support her!

Safety
• Kit - Full body cover required – legs and torso, as defined by BOF.
• Whistles - Whistles are strongly advised for all and may be checked.
• Weather - In the event of extreme wet, cold or windy weather. you will be required to carry or wear a cagoule. A decision will be made, based on the then Met Office forecast, and signed at the event
• Solo runners - If you are travelling and running alone, you may wish to leave details of yourself and your car with enquiries.
• Medical conditions - Competitors with existing medical conditions are asked to provide a sealed envelope with their name and club on the outside, and the medical condition explained inside plus details of medication and dosage. Spare forms and envelopes will be available at Registration. The envelope will only be opened in an emergency. The envelope is to be handed in to Registration for safe keeping before competitors start their runs.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome in the Car parking area but must be on leads at all times. Not at all on courses. Please clear up after your pet when necessary
Finish and Download
After punching at the Finish, please make your way back to the Car park and to Download - this is about 250m - please Download even if you do not finish your course.

Results
We plan to produce Results at the event. They will also be available in the Sarum website the same evening. Routegadget will also be available later.
Insurance
PLEASE NOTE: As of January 2026 participants who are not members of British Orienteering are no longer covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering this event as a non-member, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered. Please make sure that you have renewed your membership or consider joining if you are not already a member. Non-members will still be charged a supplement to cover increased levies payable by Sarum.
Risk
Orienteering is an adventure sport; you are responsible for your own safety at the event and must not do anything that puts yourself or others at unnecessary risk.
Parents - there is a rustic play area on the edge of the Car Park - you are responsible for monitoring your children if they use this.
