Race Information

About the event
This event is closed to members of SOC. Entries are protected by a passcode which you can get from the members area of the club website. There are 30 places available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Location
Parking at Matley Heath public car park on the B3056 3km south east of Lyndhurst.

Parking will not be marshalled. Please park carefully to make best use of the limited space available.

eTag and map collection: 10:25 - 11:10

Start times: 10:30 - 11:15

Courses close: 12:45

Warning
Don't touch anything left on the ground. There is military debris on part of the area. This is clearly marked on the map and should not be entered. The courses have been planned to avoid it.

Conduct
Please make yourself aware of and abide by the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct. Key considerations include:

Acting as an ambassador of the sport of orienteering at all times and considering how your actions may appear in the eyes of landowners or members of the public;

Observing social distancing at all times;

Use your own hand sanitizer on arrival and departure.

Please limit your time at the event to a minimum to avoid unnecessary contact with others.

Entry
Online entry only. Entries close at 24:00 on 15th October. No entry on the day.

Timing System
EMIT Touch-free on loan from EMIT UK. Free eTag hire.

Map
Scale 1:10,000. Contour interval 5m. Map revised by members of SOC in 2015 with minor revisions by Colin Hicks in October 2020.

Terrain and area
Uncrossable marshes are clearly indicated on the map and must be avoided.

The area is very popular with walkers, dog walkers and horse riders so please be respectful of the general public and their animals.

Facilities
Toilet is available in car park.

Clothing and equipment
Full leg cover and footwear suitable for the terrain must be worn. Whistles must be carried. In adverse weather we may ask you to wear a cagoule or similar waterproof top. Please bring your own water or other drinks.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.

Assembly Area
Adjacent to Start. Use the sanitizer before approaching the "washing line". This will have your named bag in time order with your map and eTag in it. Take your bag. Remove the eTag and map, drop the bag in the crate. The map will be sealed and you are on trust not to unseal it before you start (as per a relay or mass start score event). There is no key drop for this event.

Start
The start is close to the car park. Please ensure that you remain socially distanced as you approach the start. A maximum of five competitors in the start area at any one time. Follow the directions of the start marshal.
No loose control descriptions at the start - these will be available to download from the club website before the event.

On the Course
It's a touch free event - please do not touch the controls, not even with your eTag. Just hover your wrist above the control and check that the eTag flashes. Be aware of other competitors and other users. Keep your distance at all times. Give way at controls, be patient.

Finish and Download
After punching at the Finish sanitize your hands, remove your tag from your wrist, remove it from the strap drop your tag in one crate and the strap in the other. Make your way back to your car. Have a safe journey home.

Results
Tags will be downloaded and results created after the event. Results, splits and Routegadget will be available on the club website. No results on site.
