Race Information

We invite you to enter an event on the extended area used only for the National event in January 2020. Since then, the herd of highland cattle have been exceptionally busy eating brambles etc. and in general the area has become considerably more runnable. The undulating woodland with interspersed areas of open scattered trees will test your navigation. Information about the interesting conservation work in the area can be found at www.nationaltrust.org.uk/cobham-wood-and-mausoleum

Parking
Car Parking will be at Lodge Farm, Cobham DA12 3BS 51.389581; 0.414215
w3w verge.proof.arena. We do not now expect to need any additional parking.

The area around the farm is barred for public use and we are privileged to be able to park at the farm. We will have parking marshals monitoring vehicles entering the farmyard to seek to ensure no non-orienteering vehicles enter. Please mention you are here for the orienteering when you reach the first parking marshal.

Parking space is limited so cars will be parked close together in the farm yard. Take particular care when exiting your vehicle that there are no other participants outside their vehicle adjacent to you. Remain in your car until the immediate area near to your car is clear.

Safety
You must not attend if you or a member of your household has COVID-19 symptoms, or if you have been asked to isolate by NHS Test and Trace or if you are required to quarantine after returning from overseas

You must adhere to the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.

Event centre
The event centre including Download is within the farm yard. The start and finish are within 500m of the event centre but are not close to each other. There will be a first aid kit at the event for largely self-use and a first aid trained club member in attendance.

There are no toilets at the event centre. The nearest public toilets are at Shorne Woods Country Park

Map
The map is 1:10,000 for all courses printed on waterproof paper. The area has many rootstocks, some very large, as these are left to create an environment for small creatures. No rootstocks appear on the map.

Starts
Given the number of entries and start slots available, we can now accommodate all participants from a single start. To accommodate the number of entries selected for the first start slot 11:00-11:14, we now envisage having the first start at 10:45 for anyone wishing to start a little earlier than the slot they selected on entry.

Contactless punching will be facilitated but it is a Punching Start and Finish.

Control descriptions
Control descriptions are printed on the map. Loose control descriptions are available online as a pdf accessible from the front event page of the DFOK website but will not be available at the event. If you downloaded the CDs before yesterday evening please note that the last control on your map and on the control will be number 90 (not 100 as shown on an earlier version of the loose CDs).

Finish and Download
It is a Punching Finish. Do not congregate at the Finish. After finishing, please proceed directly to Download but ensure you rest a few moments to gather yourself and to try to control any droplet/aerosol emission before downloading. Download will be by the competitor. Your splits print out will be handed to you. Hired SI dibbers should then be deposited in a pink container nearby.

At the start and during your run please remember to social distance. Please move away from the map box after collecting your map. At control sites do not touch the control, and move through quickly.

Results
Results will not be on display at the event but you can access them on the DFOK website after the event www.dfok.co.uk. We hope to be able to show live results using your mobile phone.
