ESOCs traditional January event

ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED - THE EVENT IS FULL. SORRY!

There will be White, Yellow and Orange courses for improvers and those fairly new to orienteering, there will also be a green course for more experienced orienteers. Cammo Estate is a popular parkland with some wooded areas and a good network of paths.

If you are intending to complete the course as a pair/group or shadow a child, please note that 1 entry provides 1 map (and the use of 1 SI Dibber)

We have SI dibbers for hire free of charge but there is a £30 charge if lost. You carry the dibber with you so that we can time you around the course.

Directions
Head for the Ranger Centre at The Lodge at the end of Cammo Road. You should be able to come close to the event by bus, check Lothian Buses for more information about services. The general area is residential so if you can come by bus, walk or by bicycle please do so. If you come by car please park in Cammo Road or other surrounding streets and enter the Estate through the Lodge Gates. Please park carefully and give due consideration to local residents who may be coming and going from their houses during the course of the event.

Registration and Start Times
No Registration or Enquiries on the day.

STARTS: From 1.00pm to 2.30pm with course closure at 3.30pm (It is dark early in January. Controls will start to be brought in at 3.30pm so if you think you'll take a long time to complete your course please enter early so you can choose an early start time.)

White, Yellow and Orange courses for beginners and improvers and a Green course for experienced orienteers.

White: 1.2km Technical Difficulty 1
Yellow: 2.4km Technical Difficulty 2
Orange: 2.7km Technical Difficulty 3
Green: 5.2km Technical Difficulty 5

Note that the distance is the straight line distance between the controls and is shorter than the distance you will run

Entry Details
SportIdent (SI) electronic timing will be used. If you have your own SI (dibber) please provide details on the entry form

General Information
Dress: Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. The ground could be muddy and slippery so please be prepared for this.
Other Users: Cammo Estate is very well used by the general public including other runners and dog walkers. Please respect their right to be there at the same time as you are orienteering.
Dogs: Dogs are allowed but should be kept under close control at all times.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS: You have the option of downloading and completing this Medical Form. It could be life saving if the organisers are aware of any existing medical conditions in the event of an incident. You can put it in a sealed envelope and hand it to the Organiser on the day. It will only be opened if required and destroyed or handed back to you after the event.
COVID 19: You should not attend the event if you are showing any symptoms of Covid 19 even though you have pre-entered. You should also not attend if you have specifically been asked to quarantine or self-isolate. The event will be managed to take account of all Government and Scottish Orienteering Guidelines relevant at the time.

Terrain
Parkland with some wooded areas and a good network of paths.

Safety and Risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
