Map and Terrain
We will be using a new 1:10,000 map of the Tangham section of Rendlesham Forest, surveyed and drawn for this event. Maps for all courses will be on A4 waterproof paper.. Control descriptions will be printed on the map (on the reverse for Brown) and separate control descriptions will be available.
The area was last used for orienteering in 2015. Parts of the forest were thinned in the following years, but the forest is now back in excellent condition. There remains a little (un-)seasonal bracken in places, but a lot of good clear runnable terrain, and some areas of intricate vegetation detail. While substantially flat, the area is cut by the Tang valley and there are lots of small-scale relief features. This is probably the best orienteering terrain in the Sandling (East Suffolk) forests.
Previous map from 2015 event can be found here.
New map has been significantly extended.
