Orienteering in the New Forest.

Join us for a local event in the New Forest with courses for all skills and all ages.

If you are new to orienteering or new to the club or just want to talk about how to progress with your orienteering, one of our coaches will be on hand to help.

Novice course. All on paths. Suitable for beginners.

Novice course. Mostly on paths, but corners can be cut. Suitable for improvers.

Event Information

Important information about entries
This event has a strict limit to the number of entries and cars allowed. We have now reached the limit of 50 cars, so entry is now STRICTLY ONLY for competitors who can arrive by bike or public transport (or can get a lift with a driver who has already entered). PLEASE CAR-SHARE IF YOU CAN.

There will be no entry on the day.

Location, travel and parking
Parking is at the Blackwater car park:

Trains run from Southampton Central and Bournemouth to Brockenhurst station which is 3.7 miles from the car park.

Please park only in the spaces provided. Do not park on the verges or on the sides of the entrance roads.

Registration is on the eastern side of the car park near to the toilet block. The start is on the western side of the car park, on the other side of the road.

Please note this is a busy car park. Please take care when walking through it.

Timing
Help, advice and EMIT hire cards: 10:15 - 11:45
Starts : 10:30 - 12:00
Courses close: 13:30

Start at any time. If you have your own EMIT you may go straight to the start.

The start and finish are within 300m of the car park.

Map and Terrain
1:10,000 map on A4 waterproof paper, 5m contours.

Typical New Forest terrain of relatively flat, runnable woodland, with some areas of thicker undergrowth and lots of tracks/rides.

Facilities
There is a permanent toilet at the Northern end of the car park.

Road Crossings
Blue and Green will have two road crossings (unmanned). Under 16s on these courses must run with or be shadowed by an adult.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.

All participants should make themselves aware of and comply with The New Forest Code.
