KNC9: Grove Green and Bearsted urban score event using MapRun.

Insurance advice from British Orienteering. Under 16's may take part in this event non-competitively provided they are accompanied by an adult at all times and the adult assumes full responsibility for them. Note, that neither the junior nor the accompanying adult will be eligible for KNC league points.

Registration in advance and online only.
Mass start : 19.30hrs. 60 minute score event with 25 controls. Visit as many of the controls in any order. Control locations will all be streetlights and the specific streetlight will have a band of yellow/green electrical tape around the column about 1m above ground level to identify it (no kites). Control values vary from 10, 20 or 30 points, with 20 points deducted for each minute or part minute you are late back.
We will be using MapRun for control validation at this event. You will need to have downloaded MapRun to your phone or gps watch prior to the event. Full details on how to do this can be found at https://www.dfok.co.uk/info/virtual-orienteering-courses . If you have not used MapRun before it is recommend to familiarise yourself with it at least a few days before the event. If it would be helpful to have a small test event produced around the area you live then contact the organiser well before this event. A test course will also be provided adjacent to the event start.
The finish will be a standard SI/SIAC punching finish (not contactless).
Apres-O will be at Newnham Court Inn (ME14 5LH) and food needs to be ordered at least the day before the event. Refer to event details on the DFOK website for further information.

You should make every reasonable effort to arrive at the event in time for your allocated start time.

At the start and during your run please remember to social distance. Please move away from the map box after collecting your map. At control sites do not touch the control, and move through quickly. Do not congregate at the finish.

Results will not be on display at the event but you can access them on DFOK website after the event
