60 minute straight score

WSX & WIM are running a series of summer events consisting of 6 maprun (virtual) events (each lasting one month) and 6 physical (SI control) events. This is the first physical event in the WSX/WIM Summer Series for 2024. Event centre is The Yachtsman Pub, in Hamworthy with food and drink available. The course is a 60 minute straight score (no "odds and evens" or other variations) using SIAC enabled SI control stations on small O kites.
The pub managers have asked if you would please phone the pub in advance with a food orders if you want to eat there on 01202 674568.

Juniors are under 21 on 31st December.
Competitors under 16 on the day must be accompanied by an adult.
Event Information

Start and Finish Times
Starts are from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Course closes at 8:00 p.m. Please try to be back by then or you may find controls have been collected in.

Timing
SI (Sport Ident) timing control boxes (SIAC enabled) hung on small O kites.
Dibber (SI Card 5) hire is available for £1.
Printed Score showing splits will be provided at download.
Results will be available on-line later on the same night.

Terrain
Urban orienteering terrain on a mixture of streets and green spaces bordering Poole Harbour and Holes Bay.

Parking
Parking is available at the Yachtsman (host pub) and on neighbouring streets.

Map
A3, 1:5000 based on Open Orienteering Map - overprinted with the control codes only.
The points values aren't printed on the map but are provided on the separate control description sheet. Codes 31-40 are worth 10 pts, 41-50 worth 20 pts and 51-60 worth 30 points.

Course and Score Information
You have 60 minutes from the Start to Finish via as many of the 30 controls as you can (total value 600 points).
You gain points for each control visited but you lose 10 points per minute – or part minute over the hour.
Points per control may vary from 10 to 30 points as described above, so check your map and plan your route before you start.
Bonus points (10 per minute under the hour) are available but ONLY if you manage to visit every control.
