Event number 5 in the WIM/WSX Summer league 2024

WSX & WIM are running a series of summer events consisting of 6 maprun (virtual) events (each lasting one month) and 6 physical (SI control) events. This is the fifth physical event in the WSX/WIM Summer Series for 2024. Event centre is the Thomas Tripp pub in Wick Lane, who have kindly made their back room available to us (free of charge). Their deadline for pre-orders alongside your entry has now passed but you should be able to order on the night although the full menu may not be available. For a preview of what may (or now may not) be available, please see the menu link in Event Information.
The course is a 60 minute straight score (no "odds and evens" or other variations) using SIAC enabled SI control stations with O kites.
Early entry (by 10th August) is advised as we need to put the order in for maps and set the event limit to match.

Entry limit: 50
Entered: 39

Separate Senior (60 min) and Junior (45 min) score courses mainly of urban running in Christchurch. The Junior Course is around the Quay and grounds of the Priory using the same start and finish.
Seniors please take care crossing the main road which passes through the centre of Christchurch as it can be pretty busy (this is shown in mid brown on the map). And ensure you use the north side of the road when heading East over the two branches of the Avon. As it is August and Christchurch is a busy holiday destination do please take extra care as many people will not be familiar with either the area or the vagaries of our sport. And do please be polite even if there are crowds taking up the width of the pavements.. Unaccompanied under 16s may not compete on the Senior course.

Entry Fees
Senior: £7.00
Senior Chip hire: £1.00
Junior: £2.50
Junior Chip hire: free
Juniors are under 21 on 31st December.
Competitors under 16 on the day may not compete on the senior course.

Senior Course
A 60 min score event with 28 controls of varying points values to a total of 500 points. 10 min penalty for every minute (or part thereof) you are late back. Both points and control code will be shown on the map.
Please take care crossing the main road which passes through the centre of Christchurch as it can be pretty busy (this is shown in mid brown on the map). And ensure you use the north side of the road when heading east over the two branches of the Avon. As it is August and Christchurch is a busy holiday destination do please take extra care as many people will not be familiar with either the area or the vagaries of our sport. And do please be polite even if there are crowds taking up the width of the pavements.
Junior course
A 45 min score event with 10 controls of varying points values. The course will be around the Quay and grounds of the Priory using the same start and finish.
Scoring
Seniors have 60 minutes from the Start to Finish via as many of the 28 controls as you can (total value 500 points).
Juniors have 45 minutes to collect via as many of the 10 controls as you can (total value 280 points).
You gain points for each control visited but you lose 10 points per minute – or part minute over the hour.
Points per control may vary from 10 to 30 points as described above, so check your map and plan your route before you start.
Bonus points (10 per minute under the hour) are available but ONLY if you manage to visit every control.

Food Options
Here's a link to the Thomas Tripp food page. Here too is a direct link to the menu Given that the deadline for pre-orders has now passed, you may find that not all the options are available when you order it on the night. Unfortunately, you can no longer add or amend your food (deadline was 10th August). Please do stop for food as we would like to help out the pub as best we can for their generous provision of an event room free of charge.
