Mid week street score event using Maprun.
The HAVOC-SOS Twilight series will consist of 4 evening events. Points will be awarded based on final score (multiplied by 150% for Short) adjusted using an age/gender handicap system. Best 3 results from the series will count for the final table.

Please ensure you have latest version of MapRun installed and the course is downloaded to your phone/watch before you arrive.
Details of how to obtain a copy of the app and how it works can be found https://maprunners.weebly.com/
A user guide is available on the HAVOC website https://www.orienteering-havoc.co.uk/maprun-courses.
Full results will be emailed and published on the SOS and HAVOC websites.
It is hoped that courses will be available after the event date for two weeks, on MapRun, for points in the league, subject to an Anytime penalty of 6 mins Long, and 4 mins Short. There will however be a 15 point bonus for each run attended on the night, to encourage on the night runs and socialising.

Number of controls visited, specific order and route choice are all up to the individual competitor.
Controls are generally fire hydrant ‘H’ signs (lower number) some of which may be home made.

Event information

Download the course onto the Maprun app by clicking on ‘Select Event' in the app, and following the menu path UK > Essex > West Colchester then select either LONG PXAS ScoreN60 or SHORT PXAS ScoreN40
The course map will not be visible on your phone until you receive the PIN number at Registration on the night. (Note – you do not need the PIN number to run using a Garmin watch). There are no written answers required with MapRun and your result will be automatically downloaded when you finish. However, if the app doesn't register your visit, then you need to record the lower number on the H sign, or other reference as directed. The full procedure will be explained at Registration. Note, that if a control is missed then the software will show your result as Mispunch, but in the official results we will add the usual 5 minute penalty for a missed or incorrect control. Please ensure you notify the organiser that you have finished, so that safety checks can be completed.
If you are unable or prefer not to use MapRun, you are still welcome to take part by completing the control sheet with pen or pencil (N.B. this is a slower method). With this approach, timing will be manually by a traditional clock, and written answers will be checked as per previous events. If you are not using MapRun, then please bring a pencil to mark the control card and a map bag if wet.

Facilities
There are toilet facilities in the pub at the start/finish.
Participants are warmly invited to join us in the Hospital Arms for post run rehydration and discussion. Excellent selection of beers. Food served but check time of last orders before running.
