Map: 1:10,000 redrawn 2023-24 overprinted with control codes and score values. Loose control descriptions will be available
Course and score information: There is one map showing all controls.
• The Summer League course is a 60-minute Score course
• Whilst the score course is appropriate and safe for all, the map will also highlight a sub-set of the controls and an order to be taken that would mirror a Yellow colour-coded course in both distance and technical difficulty
You have 60 minutes to go from the start to finish via as many controls as possible. You gain points for each control visited but you lose 10 points per minute (or part minute) late back. Points per control vary from 10 to 30. Bonus points (10 per minute under the hour) are available but ONLY if you manage to visit every control.
Terrain: Gore Heath is a managed woodland with forest of all degrees of runnability, some open heath, an extensive path network and areas of contour detail. Some areas of the woodland have been recently thinned - this has increased visibility but introduced brashings. Controls have been sited to mostly avoid these areas. Areas of bracken have been mapped as green vertical lines defined as 'Slow running, good visibility'. In late September, the bracken should have begun to die down, improving runnability.
