Courses Close:
7.30pm Please abandon your run if you haven't finished by this time. Controls will start being collected straight away.
Start/Finish
These are near Knoll Beach Car Park which is about a 1.6k walk from the Bankes Arms along paths and the beach (depending on the tide!) For those who may not wish to walk the 1.6k to and from the event, it is possible to park at Knoll Beach but entry must be made before 4.30pm. And you must download back at the Bankes Arms afterwards.
Terrain
Sandy heath on a mature dune system with patches of gorse and a few trees. There is a lot of contour detail and a few well defined mapped paths and a smaller number of indistinct paths. There is no road network nor any light apart from what you bring.
Safety
In view of the challenging terrain and the absence of any natural light on this occasion, we will be operating a "no whistle - no run" policy. You will also be required to show some form of backup light at the start.
Safety bearing is E until you find either a clearly defined path or the sea shore, then SW and follow the shoreline back to Knoll Beach.
Map
1:5000 scale A3 map overprinted with control codes and their points value. Map updated for this event to reflect some vegetation changes and fence removal. Some of the smaller paths have also been added.
The road on the west side of the competition area is out of bounds
Facilities Toilets
Toilets at the pub. There may be limited seating inside the pub, but there is a large, covered area outside if needed. Registration etc. will be inside the pub.
Food & Drink
The
Bankes Arms in Studland with
adjacent parking will serve food Saturday & Sunday: 12.00pm – 9.00pm. Here's a
link to the menu. The pub management would like an indication of numbers for this. So please indicate Yes or No (with no commitment) on the entry form if you intend to eat after the event
