2026 Summer Series Event 2 at Needham Lake

The second of our Summer Series events will be in Needham Lake, one of the most popular free tourist attractions in the area.

There will be a selection of courses suitable for both beginners and experienced orienteers.

Enter online to guarantee your map. Entry on the day will be available subject to map availability.

Courses

Short 1.7km 10m climb
Entered: 0
17 controls, all within the park area.

Medium 2.6km 20m climb
Entered: 0
16 controls, mix of park area and urban with some minor road crossings.
Entrants must be over 16.

Long 4.0km 30m climb
Entered: 0
21 controls, mix of park area and urban with road crossings.
Entrants must be over 16.

Junior: £2.00

Juniors are under 21 on 31st December.

If you are entering as a group please enter with the name of one adult and add the names of the other group members in the space provided and you will be charged the senior entry fee.
You can opt to purchase an extra map for the course you have entered for £1.00.

The controls will be set up for contactless punching.
Event Information
Parking
In the free car park to the East of the Lakes, accessed off the B1078 Coddenham Road.
Once parked please head south towards the Lake and the Cafe to find Registration.
Map/Terrain details
Needham Lake offers a mix of open parkland, small patches of mature woodland and more recent plantings that encircle the main lake. There are some surfaced paths and many routes of mown grass with some undulations.

The longer routes will also encompass the urban areas alongside the park.
The Middle course will have some minor road crossing with the Long course crossing more significant roads and therefore these courses not suitable for Under 16s unless accompanied.

The map will be at a scale of 1:4000 with 2.5m contours.

Controls will be set up for SI contactless punching.

Entry on day is available as well as pre-entry via RaceSignUp
Facilities
Registration, dibber hire and download will be close to the car park.
Registration will be open from 10:00.

Start times from 10:15 - 11:15.
Start will be a short distance from registration over the river.
Start times will not be allocated, but there may be queues at busy times.
Courses close 12:30

Guidance for beginners will be available at Registration open from 10:00.

There are toilets and a cafe close to the carpark.
