Swinley East Regional

2024-10-26

Berkshire Orienteers (BKO) invites you to a regional orienteering event at Swinley East on Saturday the 26th October 2024.
This is a SCOA League Event (SCOL). It is the day before the Oxford City Race, so why not make it into an orienteering weekend?

Swinley East forest is flat with mixed tree type, runnable expanses and some areas of finer contour detail. Parking will be on the area (800m from the entrance gate along a hard track) situated between the start (less than 100m) and finish. Toilets and first aid team at assembly.

There is forestry work in the area. Please keep strictly out of the out of bounds areas marked (new tree planting etc).

Due to recent forestry work there are unmapped vehicle tracks / changes to vegetation / new ditches in places.

Bracken is dying back, but still high in some places.

Event Information

The terrain is mostly flat with some areas of contour details.
It is a mixture of coniferous and deciduous forest which has been subject to some felling and replanting over recent years.
The summer bracken is still significant in many areas.

The Oxford City Race run by OUOC is on Sunday 27th October - Why not make a weekend of it?
