Assembly
Ranmore Common Road west car park – participants are NOT to use this car park as we only have permission from the National Trust to use part of it and it gets busy with local visitors. The Assembly area will contain Registration, Download, First Aid, a key drop box, a clothing dump and may have a catering wagon. Start and Finish for all courses will be a short walk from Assembly.
Parking
The main parking will be on hard standing at St Theresa’s School, Effingham, off Critten Lane what3words ///boot.crops.cost
Over 80s and families with children competing aged 13 and under may park at Stony Rock NT Car Park on Hogden Lane, what3words ///ropes.shells.plotss
Please try to share cars wherever possible as space will be limited.
Public Transport
Dorking Railway Station is almost 5 km from assembly. You are recommended to use the car sharing element of racesignup to arrange a lift.
Map
White Downs was last used in December 2016 and South Ranmore even further back in the mists of time - pre-Routegadget2! A brand new lidar based map of this top quality area has been produced for this event by Philip Gristwood 2024-2025. 1:10,000 scale for longer courses and 1:7,500 for Very Short Green and below (tbc), both with 5 metre contours. The map is ISOM2017.

Punching
SI Controls will be used throughout and will be SIAC enabled (other than the Start and Finish). SIAC cards will be available to hire.
Start and Finish
Starts are from 10:30 to 12:30 and courses close at 14:00. If you plan to do one of the longer courses, please choose a start time that will ensure you finish before courses close. The Start and Finish will be close to Assembly.
Results
Live results will be available during the event via the QR Code on your printout and on the club web site as soon as possible after the event.
Conduct
Please make yourself aware of and follow the British Orienteering Guidance for Participants (revised September 2022).
All competitors must wear full leg cover as per British Orienteering Rules effective 1st January 2026 - page 13, Clothing and Equipment, section 8.1
Dogs
Allowed in the Parking and Assembly Areas but not on the courses. Please keep your dog on a lead and clean up after them.
Risk
Orienteering is a physically challenging sport. Competitors take part at their own risk.
Safety
All competitors are required to carry a whistle. A waterproof top may be compulsory if the weather is poor.
