Dartford Orienteers invite you to our Kent Orienteering League event in this varied parkland in World Orienteering Week. Guidance on what to do will be available both in advance and on the day.
We are offering a range of Line courses and a 60 minute Score course so there's a course suitable for all ages and levels of experience.
We are keeping entries open including Saturday morning as we have a few maps still available but please enter before you leave for the event. We do not take cash or credit card entries at the event
Registration online only in advance. Start Times: 11:00 to 12:30.
Courses
Yellow 1.8km 65m climb
Controls (checkpoints) are very easy to find, mostly on paths, ideal for younger children and complete beginners.

Orange 2.8km 85m climb
Controls are on or near paths with some route choice. Good for progressing juniors and adults who are reasonably confident reading a map.

Green 3.8km 135m climb
Suitable for those with orienteering experience.

Suitable for those with orienteering experience.

60 mins Score
There are 21 controls. Those numbered in the 50"s are the easiest, 60's more difficult and 70's a bigger challenge! Find as many controls as you can in any order within the time limit of 60 minutes. 10 points per control and a 5 point penalty per minute or part of a minute for exceeding the allocated time.

Newcomers are most welcome. If you are a newcomer to orienteering and have not participated in one of our events before, guidance will be provided both in advance and at the event.
Groups participating together (one entry, one map and includes chip hire)
Entry Fee: £10 at all entry dates
Electronic punching chip hire: standard £1 and enhanced version for contactless punching £2.50.
For a group, only one person needs to enter but after the surname please type "+2" say to indicate that this is a group of three people participating together. One map will be issued to the group but extra maps can be provided on request to the organiser at £1 each on the day if there are still maps available for that course. The group entry fee includes the hire of one electronic chip.

Parking will be on Welling Way near to its junction with Rochester Way. Follow the red and white tapes from this junction northwards to our Event Centre where you will see the dark blue DFOK sail banner and our tent.
Parking on Welling Way costs £2 for all day on a Saturday payable using the PayByPhone parking app. It costs more if you park on Rochester Way.
There will be a first aid kit at the event for largely self-use and a first aid trained club member in attendance.

The start will be about 100m walk from the Event Centre. Follow the red and white tapes. It is a punching start for everyone.

Control descriptions
Control descriptions are printed on the map. Loose control descriptions will be available in the start lanes at the event. These are helpful if you want to avoid keep unfolding your map to check the control code is correct at each control visited.

Finish and Download
It is a Punching Finish for everyone. After finishing, please proceed directly to Download which is close to the Event Centre. Download will be by the competitor. Your splits print out will be handed to you. Hired SI dibbers should then be deposited in a pink container nearby.
