Car parking is limited at the Monkey House, so please car share where possible. Additional parking is available along the Lower Buckland Road opposite the pub.
No muddy shoes inside the pub please.
Map/Area
1:5,000 on SRA3 waterproof paper, 5m contours overprinted with control IDs and point values. The area comprises mainly of housing estates with some parks & small areas of scrubland.
Course
1 hour straight score event, as per Wessex Night League guidelines - competitors have 60 minutes to visit as many controls as possible, gaining points for each control visited as shown on the map.
There is a penalty of 10 points for each minute, or fraction of a minute, when finishing over an hour.
Bonus points (10 per minute under the hour) are available but only if every control has been visited.
Hired dibbers will be made available in the Monkey Brewhouse event centre. Controls are SIAC enabled.
Start will be adjacent to the pub.
Everyone must report to Download in the pub afterwards.
Conduct
Please make yourself aware of and abide by the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.

Facilities
The Monkey Brewhouse is an independent pub that brews it's own beer.
For WRNL participants they are offering a special menu at £18 (inclusive of service charge) for lasagne, chilli, or vegetable curry. Please indicate your preference (or opt-out) during sign-up.
The cut off date for food pre-orders is 23:59pm Sunday 18th January 2026.
Note: The standard pub menu is also available but competitors will need to arrange this themselves beforehand or on the night with the pub - Monkey Brewhouse 01590 676754
Toilets are also available in the pub.
Safety
All competitors must wear hi-viz tops and have sufficient lights to complete their course. Please take care when crossing any road, particularly the busy ones which are marked on the map in a darker colour.
Off paths there may be roots and other tripping hazards to be aware of. Cross trainers are recommended due to the mix of paved and unpaved areas.
All juniors under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Dogs
Dogs are allowed on the courses, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the event centre.
