Part of the Wessex Region Night League 2025/26
A 60 minute orienteering score event in Colden Common.
This is the 3rd event in the Wessex Region Night League 2025/26 season around the village of Colden Common at the foot of the scenic South Downs. A score event where as many controls as possible can be visited in any order within 60-minutes.

Directions
The event centre will be at Colden Common Community Centre on St Vigor Way, SO21 1UU. What3words ///formal.scans.smile
We are using the smaller Jenny Gray Room in the centre.
Parking is adjacent to the Community Centre.
No muddy shoes inside the event centre please.
Map/Area
1:5,000 on A3 waterproof paper, 2.5m contours overprinted with control IDs and point values. The area comprises mainly of housing estates with some parks & small areas of scrubland.
Course
1 hour straight score event, as per Wessex Night League guidelines - competitors have 60 minutes to visit as many controls as possible, gaining points for each control visited as shown on the map.
There is a penalty of 10 points for each minute, or fraction of a minute, when finishing over an hour.
Bonus points (10 per minute under the hour) are available but only if every control has been visited.
Hired dibbers will be made available in the Community Centre, Jenny Gray Room. Controls are SIAC enabled.
Start will be adjacent to the Community Centre.
Everyone must report to Download in the centre afterwards.
Conduct
Please make yourself aware of and abide by the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.

Registration: 17:45 to 18:45
Starts: 18:00 to 19:15
Courses close: promptly at 20:15 please
Facilities
Toilets are available in the event centre until approximately 8.30pm. There are two pubs nearby that can provide refreshments and food - The Rising Sun and The Dog and Crook
Safety
All competitors must wear hi-viz tops and have sufficient lights to complete their course. Please take care when crossing any road, particularly the busy ones which are marked on the map in a darker colour - safe crossing points are marked.
There are a few low walls and the occasional bollard to be aware of around the housing estates. Off paths there may be roots and other tripping hazards to be aware of.
All juniors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Dogs
Dogs are allowed on the courses, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the event centre.
