Safety and Admin
Orienteering is an adventure sport and so people taking part accept that there is some risk. From the start of 2026 people who are not members of British Orienteering will no longer be covered by their insurance policy
All competitors must carry a spare light source and a whistle. Everybody MUST report to download after they finish otherwise a search party may be sent out to try and find them
The event is on a slope overlooking the English Channel and its open nature means it is very exposed to any wind and rain . If conditions dictate the organiser may insist cagoules are worn or carried by all competitors, though you might like to consider doing this anyway
At southern edge of the map cliffs drop steeply down into the sea. The course is planned so there should be no need to to approach these, so please do not do so
If lost on the western section of the map head north up the slope until you find a path and then follow this east back towards the assembly area. The Durston Lighthouse should be visible from most of the western area and from there a road leading up to the car park.
Cancellation will only be done as a last resort but if it does happen, Wessex Orienteering Club reserve the right to retain a portion of the entry fees to cover any expenditure that was already committed
