The printed map has been updated to show more detail that is available on the electronic version, (especially footpaths)
Controls are all fire hydrant signs (note - 1 on the short course is homemade and 3 on the long course are homemade).
The event will be run using Maprun. Information about Maprun is available at www.stragglers.info/info/virtual-orienteering-courses
Please download the latest Maprun software in advance. You will be given an access code at the event. Maps printed on waterproof paper will be provided.
We know that sometimes MapRun doesn’t accurately ‘ping’ when you are at a control – if you believe you visited a control and this is not reflected in your score, please contact Jackie who will verify your result.
The courses can still be completed conventionally, but you will need to record the lower number on the hydrant signs. If you wish to do this, please bring a pencil or pen. Each incorrect control (if writing down the hydrant numbers) will not be included as a valid visit.
The course is on roads, pavements and paths. Note – not every path is shown on the parkland. Please wear suitable footwear.

Toilets are available in the pub.
Why not stay behind at the end for a drink afterwards and discuss your course and route choice.
Food available in the pub until 9pm.

Safety
Participation is at your own risk. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions.
This is a night event. A head or hand torch are compulsory.
As with any street orienteering participants will be required to cross roads and you are asked to take due care and attention at all times. High visibility clothing is strongly recommended.
There may be dog walkers, cyclists or residents on pavements and footpaths – be aware and give them priority.
